Module Brief:
2A - Lalin Editing: Colour grading & Correction
Mr. Martin gave us the supporting clips files and storyboards and we
had to compile and arrange it together in Premiere Pro, add the text
graphics, transitions and music to it. The aim of this project was to help us improve our skills in using Adobe Premiere Pro and sharpen our visual awareness, allowing us to better understand both the software and the creative material, preparing us for future tasks and the final project.
We also learnt to use Ripple edit tool and makesure the video is 35
seconds. Then we also had to add the message pop-up as well as the ringtone sound effect into the clips.
In class, we did the colour corrections for Lalin video as well as
Colour Grade it. Before finalising, all clips must first undergo color correction. By enabling Lumetri Scopes, we can view the waveform to assess and adjust the balance between shadows and highlights for visual consistency. We then fine-tune exposure, shadows, highlights, and white balance using the Basic Correction section in the Lumetri Color panel. After that, for color grading, we add a new adjustment layer and use the Color Wheels to modify shadows, midtones, and highlights, applying complementary colors to create the desired mood for the film.

2B - Group Production Shoot
For our 2nd part of task 2, we were given a storyboard from "Everything, Everywhere,
All at Once" , where we have to remake the scenes as a group of 13
people.
Before the week of the actual shooting, the directors: Lee Wai Xian, Maria Ashley, and Madeline helped us create the schedule and timings for each shot as well as preparing the storyboard sketches to better guide us on the day of filming...
Group Production Shoot Behind The Scene photos:
We had a lot of fun shooting all the scenes. However, we faced
several challenges such as many retakes of some scenes. We
worked together on making sure the camera angles and the actors'
movements were correctly positioned. Along with the help of the
crews, makeup artist, props, directors, sound operator and
lighting crews, this wouldn't be a success in the
end.
On the actual shooting day, the first scene we did was the hardest to take and was the most challenging, requiring 14 takes and caused a delay in our overall schedule. We had slight difficulties in moving the camera in a stable way. However, we managed to perfect that shot in the end.
Once the whole shooting was complete, all footage and audio were transferred to our computer and google drive folder. We then carefully reviewed and selected the best takes and matched them with the corresponding sound recordings, which were later synced during the editing process.

Editing the clips and making the trailer:
We had to create the shots into trailer of around 1 minute.
In the trailer we have to include texts, music and these combinations of
different colour gradings as well:
I started compiling and arranging the clips into a suspense
trailer-like video. I edited the first clip into a teal-orange
colour grading by using the colour wheel. I also did colour
corrections before that and decreased the contrast a little
bit.
For the effects on the clips I added abit of strobing effect to
make it look like the lights are going on and off blinking to
give more dramatic feel.
Apply "VR Digital Glitch" Effect:
-
Go to Effects panel.
-
Search for "VR Digital Glitch" (found under Video Effects > Immersive Video).
-
Drag it onto the top clip.
-
-
Customize the Glitch
-
Select the top clip and go to the Effect Controls panel.
-
Adjust Glitch Rate, Distortion, or Color Glitch to get my desired look.
-
-
Optional: Add a Flicker or Shake
-
Add "Wave Warp" or manually keyframe the Position for a jittery shake.
-
Can also cut short frames (2–5 frames) and shift them for a fast glitch flicker.
I searched many tutorials online on how to create the cinematic
animations for the texts and started applying on my
clips.
Applying Gradient Colour for the clips:
- In the Essential Graphics panel, scroll to "Appearance".
- Click on the Fill color box, then change the fill type from Solid to Gradient (Linear or Radial).
- Adjust the angle and position using the gradient control handles.
Applying Glow Text effect:
- I duplicated the text layer and add BLUR to the bottom text layer
- Effects panel > Gaussian Blur
- Increased blurriness to 50% to create the glow.
- Click "Repeat Edge Pixels" to create smoother glow for the end title.
^Brownish warm colour
I then colour graded all the clips using different combinations
of the colours we were told to do using the colour wheel.
^ Decreased saturation

^Bluish Cold tone
^Greenish cold tone
Final Production Trailer
TASK 2B:
Feedbacks
Mr martin said that since we are making a trailer, we shouldn't make the clips in order of the sequence we shoot for the final trailer, mix and rearrange the clips so that it looks catchy for a trailer and not giving the correct sequence.
Overall Reflection of Task 2
Experience:
To conclude, this task 2 which consisted of video shooting and editing was a really great experience. I was gained a lot of knowledge on pre and post-production such as shooting the movie scene with my group and doing the editing for the trailer video which included colour grading and correction. Through editing, I realized how important it is to get the timing and flow of a scene just right. Even small changes in cuts made a big difference in how the trailer felt. Furthermore, colour grading was something I found both fun and challenging. I played around with different tones and styles to try and bring out the right mood for each scene. It took some experimenting, but it really helped me understand how colour can affect the audience’s emotions.
Observations:
Filming with my group taught me a lot about teamwork. We had to communicate clearly and stay flexible when things didn’t go exactly as planned. I really enjoyed bouncing ideas off each other and working together. We did face several difficulties during the shooting part in the studio, but after several trials and retakes we managed to successfully take all the shots properly.
Findings:
Overall, this project helped me build more confidence in editing and post-production, and I’m proud of what we created together. I also feel like I’ve grown a lot in terms of working with others and managing creative tasks under pressure. Shooting scenes with my group helped improve my teamwork and communication skills. Collaborating on set made me appreciate the importance of planning, flexibility, and respecting everyone’s input. It was rewarding to see our ideas through collaboration. Lastly, it taught me how crucial teamwork is in filmmaking. I now feel more prepared and excited to take on more complex creative projects in the future.
