 FINAL TASK 3 ARTWORK:

(Fig. 1) - Final Artwork Task 3
<Anggia Tsani Rachmadiyanti_"Ease After Hardship"_Final Task 3>

200 words Rationale:

In my final artwork, I aimed to depict and improve more on movement, contrast, and symbolism while maintaining aesthetic harmony. The waves are designed in an abstract style, with darker tones at the base transitioning to lighter shades at the top to enhance the sense of motion. Gradient in the sky is added to increase depth & vibrance. Swirling lines emphasizes the curling waves, creating a dynamic flow. The boats are repositioned in contrast with the waves, appearing to sail toward the sunset, symbolizing the journey toward peace. Mount Fuji is enlarged as a strong visual anchor, accompanied by the sun and birds to represent stability and freedom.

The inclusion of the quote, “With hardship, comes ease,” reinforces the theme of resilience. The typography follows the wave’s flow, visually integrating with the composition. This artwork conveys how there is always ease after every hardship we go through. The towering wave represents the immense power of nature, while the small boats signify the fragility of human life. It is depicts peace after the problem. 2 boats travelling towards the sunset means travelling to a more beautiful place after a problem. The mountain, sun and birds at the sky background represents freedom, joy and peace.

Design principles used in this final artwork are: the Golden Ratio, guides the eye smoothly from the waves to Mount Fuji; contrast between dark waves and a bright orange sky enhances visual impact; balance and emphasis ensure the waves remain the focal point; repetition and movement create rhythm such as the flowy thick to thin lines & strokes; and harmony and unity link all elements through colour and composition. This artwork ultimately conveys overcoming hardships to find peace.

 FINAL REFLECTION:

       I have learnt so much about the different kinds of Design Principles used in designs, artworks, graphics and more. I've learnt how design principles are widely and often used in almost all things we see today such as websites, posters, billboards and much more. This module has taught me how important it is to implement design principles in everything we make. Furthermore, what i've learnt much more was how to analyse and make observations and writing an effective visual analysis of an artwork step by step, such as observations, analysis, and interpretations and meaning. From lecture, I learnt that A good design is one which can deliver and convey a message with a purpose to the target audience. This is what visual communication is about. Element of Design is the individual building blocks in which designers use to create a compelling composition that resonates effectively to the eyes of the viewers. These components creates an impactful design. Principles of Design are the organisational fundamentals which are resulted from / guides arrangement of the elements.

        What I enjoyed most throughout this whole module was analysing the design principles in the artwork and making the final artwork from start using my version. I found it quite fun, exciting and interesting as I got to use the design principle knowledge I had been taught before to work it out and examining how the artists have used that design principle in his artwork. Other than that, making the final artwork felt a bit challenging but I really found it fun as I got to make a new version for the original one from scratch and getting to use more design principles in my artwork. However the part which I didn't really enjoy most was trying to come up with a new sketch and idea of my own version for the original artwork, as I thought that it would be hard since the original artwork was already perfect. I found this part the most challenging personally.

        What I've learnt about myself through this module is that I like to combine all my many ideas into one, such as putting so many design principles into an artwork which sometimes I think is abit too much because I then would lose the main focus of the entire composition like what Mr. Fauzi has told me. I should learn to not over-do things sometimes as at certain points, the more simple it is, the better.

        What has changed in my learning journey in this module is that here I was able to do a proper visual analysis in the correct structure. In addition, I got to learn in more depth of each and every design principles, as back in my Foundation year in college, we were only exposed to just the basics of it. But however, both foundation and this module has taught me design principles very similarly, and therefor I wasn't blank when I first joined this module since I have been taught before of design principles before this.

        My aspirations and hope after having finished this module is to be able to use more of the design principles in my future university projects and tasks in designing things in the other subjects as well as my future career as a designer, as design principles are really important fundamentals in order to curate a really good design. Lastly, i'd like to thank my lecturers and tutors for guiding me and giving feedbacks to me throughout this entire module.
